Erling Haaland matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the fastest player to score 100 goals for a European club, achieving this milestone for Manchester City in Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Arsenal.

The Norway international scored in the ninth minute at the Etihad Stadium, weaving between Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba before striking low past David Raya, bringing his total to 100 goals in 105 appearances for City.

Arsenal led until late in stoppage time, when John Stones found the net to earn a point for the reigning champions.

Ronaldo reached his 100th goal for Real Madrid in 2011, also in his 105th match.

In 2024, Kevin De Bruyne became the 18th player in Manchester City’s history to hit 100 goals, accomplishing it in his 372nd appearance.

Haaland had already set a record for the most goals in the first four games of the Premier League season with nine, including two hat tricks.

This strong start meant he entered Wednesday’s Champions League match against Inter Milan with 99 goals from 103 games, aiming to surpass Ronaldo’s record.

However, despite having a few first-half opportunities, the 24-year-old ended up frustrated in a goalless draw.
